There is something magical about seeing yourself in a mirror with your child. I get this amazing feeling every time. I don't know if its complete surprise with what I see reflected - me with MY child, or if its an actual positive dose of reality that yes this is my child...and how very, very, very fortunate I am/we are.
In graduate school I attended a weekend long leadership seminar where we did an exercise that involved starring at ourselves in a mirror for 10 consecutive minutes (we were completely clothed for all of you that have your mind in the gutter:) It was excruciating for me. The 10 minutes felt like 10 years - which is about how long ago it was that I took that seminar. Its funny how I caught myself tonight thinking back to that graduate school experience after I had such an opposite feeling this evening. How much that class taught me, then, and now, about myself. Thank you Professor Kathy Kane at USF.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that has this experience....thoughts?
