Today we have been in our house for four years. That is the longest husband and I have lived anywhere with the exception of our childhood homes. We were both fortunate to each live in one house while growing up - never having to move. I'm thankful for that stability I had growing up - especially when my dad was typically based in other states and sometimes in other countries - we stayed put. That may have been the reason I wanted to "go as far away as possible" when I went to college but someone very dear to me told me I would be back with a much greater appreciation for where I was from...that couldn't be more true. I'm so glad I get to raise my kids in essentially the same place where both husband and I grew up. I can see us living here forever.
The house has already been through a lot with us...an earthquake the first night we stayed here while sleeping on the floor...and at least 3 others that I can think of. Our rehersal dinner, and bringing both of children home to this house after they were born.
Its also been through a lot of cosmetic changes which have truly made it our own and our dream house. There is nothing like going through a remodel with your first pregnancy and building an addition with your second pregnancy.
Yes its just a house...but I happen to really love it!
